app review.

first (and probably last...) app review of this blog.

this is a video I shot one night this summer in brooklyn bridge park overlooking downtown manhattan.
the video was elaborated with the iSupr8 app. for iPhone. I love the vintage feel that the app adds to your video instantly!

the app is fairly easy to use and gives that extra kick to the most simple video (see above...)
when I got it (maybe about a month ago) it was free and I personally don't like to pay for apps...but I think this one is totally worth the $1.99 ;)

UDw.

and it's urban design week in nyc!
it's a festival started by the institute for urban design that will go on from today / sept.15 / to sept.20.

"Urban Design Week is a new public festival created to engage New Yorkers in the fascinating and complex issues of the public realm, and to celebrate the streetscapes, sidewalks, and public spaces at the heart of city life. Through an open-call ideas competition and a rich roster of discussions, tours, screenings, workshops, and events across the five boroughs, UDW will highlight the fact that cities are made by collective effort, and that each of us can play a part."

there will be a lot of crazy/very interesting events all over the city and I still haven't exactly decided which ones I will actually go to. but I've been to the kick-off event on monday night (pecha kucha night at le poisson rouge)
"dimensions of urban design".
for those of you that like me before going to this event (shame on me), don't know what pecha kucha means, it is a presentation format in which speakers will show 20 slides for 20 seconds each (20x20). this keeps the presentation on a fast pace (aka. not boring people to death) and allows more speakers to have the exact same amount of time to present their ideas.
it was personally the first time for me to attend such kind of talk and I thought it was great! super interesting projects were shown, very different from one another, from the new snohetta building for the wtc site to a virtual tour of the bronx showing what's next for the borough.
hope the full presentation will be posted online soon by the pecha kucha ny chapter. I'll keep an eye on it and will link the video/presentation as soon as it will come out!

out of my (train) window.

I am not sure where I want this post to go, but I want to talk about this ad that I saw last week in a train station in Italy.

it's the new davidoff cool water ad campaign starring paul walker.
the style of the ad is the same very similar to the brand's campaigns of basically the last decade. but what caught my attention right away was the very poor photoshop job done to re-create the effect of water dripping down paul walker's face. in my opinion it makes the shoot look very cheap and therefore the add and the brand. couldn't they find someone with slightly better photoshop skills?!?

maybe it's just me and I know that sometimes I get too anal about this kind of details, but I really can't believe that no one had any concerns before releasing these images worldwide!
anyway...I guess paul walker is hot and sells no matter what.

plain grey t's.

favourite new item of the season:
the boyfriend plain grey t-shirt.

can't get enough of it. I would pair it with any outfit, from sporty to casual to dressy (actually thinking of pairing it with a Blumarine sequined skirt for NYC Fashion Night Out! still thinking about it though...).
I prefer a loose/boyfriend fit - I actually don't own one and steal my boyfriends' everytime I want to complete an outfit ehehe - which I think makes a look a lot more interesting.
